Cheriton Parish Council Traffic Update It has been a little while since we reported back to you on progress with reducing the impact of traffic through the village. Work has continued in the background and we want to let you know what has been happening. Communities in the South Downs Project: We received the final report from the consultants linked to this project in August 2023. You can find a copy of the report on our website. Gateways A key recommendation from 2020 Consulting (the Communities in the South Downs consultants) and in advice received from officers in Hampshire County Council, is that a first step to improve the situation in Cheriton is the installation of gateways. Currently it is not very clear to drivers entering the village that the speed limit has changed and that they need to drive differently. A gateway feature marks the entrance to the village and makes the speed limit change very clear. We applied for funding from the Community Infrastructure Levy pot in SDNP for the gateway
